We are delighted to announce the launch of the Global Schools Program’s Educators’ Forum: a global online community to connect teachers and schools who signed the pledge to educate students about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to implement local initiatives promoting the SDGs.
The mission of Global Schools is simple; provide the necessary tools and e-resources for schools and teachers to educate their students on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By working with educators, we aim to transform learning environments globally and make schools the hubs of education and leadership on the SDGs, ultimately empowering students to prioritize sustainable development in their lifestyles, behaviors, education and professional careers. As former Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki Moon stated:
“Education is a fundamental right and the basis for progress in every country. [...] With partnership, leadership and wise investments in education, we can transform individual lives, national economies and our world.”
We believe connecting engaged and passionate actors all around the world is paramount to foster collaboration and spread inspiring examples and best practices.
The Forum was launched with two sub-groups, designed for Primary and Secondary Schools and aims to provide access to our latest supporting materials for educators, such as webinars with leading educators, lesson plans, videos, games, infographics. Furthermore, the online platform provides educators a global community to share best practices, experiences, opportunities and expand their professional networks.
Global Schools team has invited the first 102 institutions who signed the pledge to collaborate with SDSN Youth involving 195 educators, and we keep expanding our network of schools and educators who are passionate about educating students about the SDGs. We are now calling for all educators, teachers and schools to sign the pledge and join our global community.
